A housekeeper/nanny can play a vital role in managing household chores and taking care of children. They are a combination of a housekeeper and a nanny, providing both cleaning services and childcare. They are responsible for tasks such as cleaning, laundry, cooking and watching over the children. They ensure your home is well maintained and your children are looked after in a safe environment.
The cleaning part of the role should be clearly outlined when starting with a family and below tasks can be expected of you:
Laundry - this could include putting a wash on, hanging the washing out and then bringing it in, folding and popping the washing away.
Ironing - Ironing a pile of clothes and then hanging them away.
Vacuuming - the family could ask you to hoover the house.
Polishing - wiping down the sides in each room of the house.
Cleaning - wiping down various sides including the kitchen worktops and appliances.
A general tidy - popping things away, cleaning up after yourselves.
Loading and emptying the dishwasher.
Preparing family meals.
Grocery shopping and restocking household essentials.
Managing household organizations, such as sorting clothes and toys.
This may seem a lot whilst your looking after the children so its best to set a schedule so you know at different parts of the day you will be able to do the above tasks or with clear communication you know what is expected daily and weekly of you. There also needs to be a flexible approach as childcare should always come first and if at the time you schedule to start your jobs you can not do so because you are doing something with the children this is o.k you can always start the jobs later.
